55 member minimum?

Until recently, no one would limit corps to four shows NEXT season because of how many members they had THIS season.

How do you know that is the reason they were given 4 Open shows? The message didn't say that. They posted two primary reasons for folding....the DCI membership policy and the small number of shows given to them. It did not link 2019 membership to 2020 shows. Did you see that elsewhere?

There were screenshots of an email leaked prior to the official announcement that indicated that DCI not allowing Encorps to travel to Marion, IN for Open Class Championships and/or Indy for DCI Prelims was not fair, and one of the reasons for folding.  The reason given in that email was that they "hadn't traveled before" or something to that effect.  It didn't imply that the membership numbers from last year were an issue.

yes only 4 shows doesn't match Cost Benefit Analysis.

With only Spartans, 7th Regt., and Raiders as current East Coast Open entries until one zips down 23 hours to Heat Wave in Fla., not alot of options besides Firemen's parades.

On the other hand, Casper, Wyoming Troopers began touring due to the dearth of drum corps in their area in the '60's; DCI was the eventual consequence.

yeah but OC doesn't get paid what WC does

maybe they didn't expect to get too many. with Raiders, Surf, Cadets and half of DCA within 3 hours drive....tough

What would be the ramifications if they collected dues, signed contracts, held camps, etc and then didn’t field?. If nothing else their reputation would be crap and impossible to recruit in 2021.

Either way hard choice with pros/cons to both

No.  I was answering broken logic with similarly broken logic, to see how people would react.  Your response was particularly illuminating.

other that Raiders, there do not seem to be too many Eastern corps whose mission statement is principally for "training" for youth as compared to competitive success. I know 7th Regt. does have that included in its mission statement and has enjoyed the competitive success along the way. But moving southward from New England, all age corps (which could have as many or more adults as adolescents) and solely parade corps seem the only beginning option given that Surf is a World Class competitor.

true....which is where DCA fills in a lot of gaps. without any more dirt from the behind the scenes, we will never know
