New World-Class Criteria

Not sure what you are trying to say.

Probation is not "from" something, it is "for" something.  For the organizational upheaval the GH scandal caused, YEA! was placed on probation by DCI.

Evidently, DCI did not know about their financial issues until the probation gave them the chance to "look under the hood".

Evidently, DCI would not have scheduled Cadets for a California tour had they known.  Once they found out, they pulled Cadets out of that long-planned, advertised tour with little advance notice.

And, in fairness, I don't think DCI found anything frightening "under the hood" until they saw the $600m hole to fill thanks to GH's counter-claim and the legal expenses to fight.  Prior to the whole event there was nothing in the filings to point to sucha major bomb.  But, of course, that's WHY they are called "Black Swans".

Add to that the trust that GH blew up in USBands and it's not hard to see that Cadets management sees major changes necessary.

... oh no, not this nonsense again.

(And I know, you are just the messenger.)

I will not let this nonsense pass unchallenged.  The league is the real draw.  The majority of attention any DCI corps attracts is largely owed to the competitive/entertainment format DCI maintains.  Take away all that context, and not many people are going to stay and watch (let alone pay to watch) any individual corps with no known competitive status drag their props onto a football field and perform a ten-minute show, no matter what their level of excellence may be.

And forget Peoria.  We would need a TEP there.  No show for them!

And as usual, the idea of growing a bigger pie gets pushed aside.

I think it's the same "nonsense" in a different package.

In order for drum corps to be "Major League" it's participating can't be simply one, small step above a competitive BOA band.

In my view, this is about ending the practice of allowing OC corps to participate in WC shows unless the corps is of sufficient size to be presumed to be actual challengers in the competition.

Then per your earlier logic, the OC minimum should have been raised to 110.

Possibly.  But now they have a metric under which they can rule.  An OC corps that marches 125 and has been on the WC platform for two years is plenty welcome to a WC TEP event.  Just not one that's smaller than 110 MMs.  (That's not now the rule, but that's where it's heading, I'm willing to bet.)

So no shows with separate classes? I see it as a great way to show everyone that the only type of DC there should be is large and of certain level of talent. Which imo sucks....

Then again I enjoy smaller Class A in DCA . Find it interesting what corps CAN do with smaller number of bodies

If the reasoning behind the increase is making sure a Corps has enough volunteers or staff then mandate the number of volunteers or staff. Basing it on corps size and the assuming there will be enough vol/staff is shenanigans....

I can’t speak for all shows where OC corps compete in the same shows as WC, but there will be two early season shows in the Boston area where Spartans and 7th Regiment compete. A significant number of family members from both corps have traditionally attended these shows and I have no reason to believe it will be different this year. I know one show in particular estimates that about 400 attendees will be friends and family members of these corps which means ticket purchases, program book sales, and refreshments, all of which are handled by the organization that sponsors the show.
