And, in fairness, I don't think DCI found anything frightening "under the hood" until they saw the $600m hole to fill thanks to GH's counter-claim and the legal expenses to fight.  Prior to the whole event there was nothing in the filings to point to sucha major bomb.  But, of course, that's WHY they are called "Black Swans".

Add to that the trust that GH blew up in USBands and it's not hard to see that Cadets management sees major changes necessary.

there had been emails circulating for years of bands owing the circuit fees, threats to leave getting shows paid for by YEA instead of the school....you name it. the hole was there before everything blew it. the explosion made it bigger. After all, C2 was killed because it was supposed to have been losing money right?

the problem with how YEA was run was the money wasn't allocated to the certain segments of YEA, but all one pot.

Is your point that they are one-time WC challengers or that they are being out-pointed?  The first is unfortunate but not permanent.  The second is, in my best Forrest Gump voice, "Competition is as competition does".

see the problem is DCI is trying to have their cake and eat it too. for years, WC class was all about financial, not competitive. Now they want to add some competitive to it. the problem is, if the competitive knocks someone out, financially it can be devastating to a corps.

It’s interesting. Star of Indiana and its founder Bill Cook did make major contributions on and off the field. On the one hand, Star’s model of being fiscally responsible was ahead of its time. On the other hand, they did set the precedent if you want to win, it will cost you.

Your on the one hand, on the other hand post sounds like Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof.  Do you owe copyright fees to SCV? They could use them for some much better garb than late.
