Testing kits are certainly important.

Thing is if you think you just have an ordinary cold,  how long would you wait before going to get tested?  And will you do that for every cold?

Vaccines are really the best solution for this.

The show must go on! Our 11 minutes of goosebumps can't be denied because of COVID-19. Cases have been confirmed in Solano and Santa Clara counties. Even though the CDC just sent teams to Nor Cal with intensions of quarantines, I will assure you that BD still wins even if they need to phone it in. 🤧

Yeah your quote does not appear in the NEJM article you cited.

Fever

OTHO here is an actual quote from that article:

" Patients often presented without fever, and many did not have abnormal radiologic findings."

"[T]he overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 1968) rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which have had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36%, respectively."

(Bold mine)

Now we're dieseling this subject.  When there's more empirical data, we'll keep going.  OK?

Right which is NOT at all what you posted.    This just says it won't be a 10% or 36% but instead closer to the flu.

"We found a lower case fatality rate (1.4%) than the rate that was recently reportedly,1,12 probably because of the difference in sample sizes and case inclusion criteria. Our findings were more similar to the national official statistics, which showed a rate of death of 3.2% among 51,857 cases of Covid-19 as of February 16, 2020."

Even it ends up being a 1% mortality rate ,  that's an order of magnitude greater than the flu.

Quote

For the general American public, who are unlikely to be exposed to this virus at this time, the immediate health risk from COVID-19 is considered low.

Not worried about the virus in the San Francisco area, as the plague will likely wipe it out.
