Why?

Because one argument made in this forum (and elsewhere) has been that the H1N1 outbreak killed a lot more Americans than COVID19 has done, and therefore the response to the current outbreak is overblown.

The governor of Connecticut just said that Danbury Hospital, where that state's first COVID19 case was identified, has reached capacity.

Oh, and 200 nurses from that hospital have been furloughed because they were exposed to the virus without knowing it and have to wait until they are tested.

As each day goes by, situations like this may start surfacing throughout the USA.

Wow!  Sounds like tip of the iceberg time. Heard somewhere today that nationally we only have an estimated 45k ICU beds that was considered to be inadequate.  Did it say how the Danbury Admin. were going to compensate for the staff short fall? Also heard Como asked that the military be prepared to be deployed and not just the National Guard.  Field Hospitals could be tapped.

My son is an OR nurse in Orlando Florida at the VA Hospital. They are offering extra shifts to nurses to man the front entrance and screen people before they can enter the hospital.

Could get worse before this situation begins to "flatten" out.  One of the reasons for all these shut downs all over the county has to be to allow the manufacturers the time needed to provide more of what is needed and delay possibly millions of our citizens from becoming sick.

Had a scheduled doc appointment this morning.  The facility let everyone know coming in, there would be a screening upon arrival before you could proceed inside to see your doc.  “ How are you?  “Good”.  “Have you been Outside of NH in the past 2 weeks”?  “Yes”.  “Do you have a cough today”?  “No”.  “Do you have a fever”?, “No”.  “OK, here is your green card to proceed.  Keep it with you while you go to your appointment and any others you may have today. Thank you”.  I felt so safe they were doing this comprehensive screening. Whew!😷

And that one out of seven stations seems to do well in the ratings. (Sorry Mike D.)

In today’s press conference he stated that he was pleased with the way the media was handling things so I guess we can put the idea of media bias to rest.
