but they'd have to change the program to include John Cage 4'33......since it is void of musical performers. More of a mime show, I suppose...

Agreed, and I have to assume the eligibility extension will only be for those that have a contract with a corps for 2020 and for the corps that were under contract. I know some others here have been critical about it  That said, these are extraordinary times and the talent pool expands for the other non contending corps, thus making it more competitive. Also the NCAA has offered the same as well as WGI. It will happen whether you like it or not.

While it sucks, we are not the only ones missing out, ask anyone who loves college basketball, it will be better in the long run for all involved.

yup. the precedent has been set on many levels on one more year. now for college hoops, the allure of NBA money will thin that herd, but otherwise the cat is out of the bag if DCI has to go there

You may want to read what  the Los Angeles just posted about mandatory "shelter in place" in 6 counties.

As of today/tomorrow New York,NJ,and Conn. are closing all restaurants and bars, except for take out and delivery.

Atlantic City casinos are shutting down,as are all NJ schools.

Things are getting more restrictive, not less.

The worst thing is,the restrictions/closures are "open ended".

That makes the hope of finding housing even more tenuous.

I also don't know how well "standstill " tickets will sell.

Given everything that's going on,it doesn't seem fair to keep MM in limbo, when it appears more likely then not that a 2020 season isn't practical.

yes they are getting more restrictive, at this point for 2 weeks because if they take unprecedented action now, it can slow the spread dramatically. granted i think my family is ready to send me out into the world

Send you out into the world, or off on an ice flow?

It would be heartbreaking if the tour gets cancelled. The demands of tour,  and close quarters would be a recipe for more trouble

Wonder if there is a way to save the season.  All corps stay in place (if they can), stream regular performances, instead of judging, everyone texts a vote American Idol style.

But then every corps would have to play it because nobody else could perform.

"In a 36-way tie for 1st place, your 2020 Drum Corps International World Champions, with a score of 4.33... four point three three... EVERYONE!"

As far as I know,so far the NCAA has only considered an additional year of eligibility for Spring sports.

I'm a college wrestling fan.

Trying to do that for all winter sports, especially since, except for tournaments, they've played a whole season,

creates all kinds of issues.

One idea that's been mentioned  for wrestling that seems to have a chance,is to grant an extra year to wrestlers who

qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
