DFA1970
Seriously guys I have friends who work in the service sector and are not working and no income. They are very scared. One has a catering co and him and his wife had to layoff all of his staff because there is no work. He's going to Safeway today to see if they are hiring because that was in the news this morning. He'll take anything. It's serious. Edited March 17, 2020 by DFA1970

But what happens if a large percentage of the members themselves (or their parents) decide they (or their kids) will not participate in drum corps this summer? A lot can change in just a couple days but what happens members decide to bail at the last minute, regardless of contracts? This is a key point, that may even make a 2021 season more challenging. As most of us here have all been involved in corps in one capacity or another, we all know that, even on its best day, drum corps is just barely sanitary. Really hard work in really hot conditions with reduced attention to hygiene, close quarters with recirculated bus air, dirty floor sleeping, even lack of hot water in some places. Depending on the frequency/severity of flare ups after the initial outbreak, some parents may not want to risk their kids participating in the future. This is the sort of event that makes people look at everything differently.

Shutting down bars ,restaurants ,casinos, etc. statewide, like in NJ ,to "keep us safe" may sound reasonable. Unless you're someone who works in one of those places,or owns one. Unlike N.J.'s teachers, and government workers, these people don't have that kind of "safety net". People in the service sector, that rely on tips, also don't get much unemployment compensation. What's really concerning is that the shut downs are all "open ended". It also seems like everyday the list of things being being shuttered gets longer. Or a BoD member or a corps board member. All of whom are asked at the beginning of every meeting to maintain confidentiality and to let DCI coordinate the messaging for the whole activity. But your mileage may vary.
