Jeff Ream
two years ago today, the link below shared the article that rocked the drum corps world. while we know rumors of past abuses and abusers abound...and we aren't going into that...but is DCI safer and better run in regards to this? JimF-LowBari
Interesting as a channel on Dish Network was showing block of Clash of the Corps yesterday. Wonder if someone had their eye on the calendar

The new strategy for summer of 2020 should keep abuse to an absolute minimum. (Levity aside - yes, DCI and their corps have better systems/procedures in place. But since neither procedures nor people are perfect, continued vigilance is necessary too.)

greg_orangecounty
He definitely wasn't the only major figure. At least one got away with it. Is Drum Corps "safer"? Probably because now people have awareness, but anytime you mix teenagers with adult authority figures in close quarters there will be potential for issues. Drum Corps is no different than the Boy Scouts, the Church, Schools, Hollywood, etc. in that regard.
LabMaster
Would it be possible for DCI to have an anonymous reporting hotline, that could be used to log a potential issue in and to push down to the identified corps leadership, (& local authorities) for deeper investigation? That would put some necessary level of action on the clock and be communicated to appropriate persons who would be obligated to follow up. Give it specifics for required feedback and within a specific timeline. IMO, this would make it safer.
