Bluecoats are also staffing an event space/bingo hall, correct? I wonder how much of their 2.5 million budget is payroll.

$2.5 million budget per year is too high for a drum corps. And 200?  That’s insane no matter how you count it.

Why? What is your cutoff  for how much per year a drum corps should cost? How many employees are they allow to have?

That’s a good question!  The NFL, NBA, and NHL have salary caps.  MLB has a luxury tax.  The NCAA limits the number of coaches per athletic team.  Why???  To prevent more lucrative teams from spending, stockpiling talent and thereby placing teams with smaller payrolls and financial means at a competitive disadvantage.

And that's exactly what we have in Drum Corps today and a large reason why only 30 exist.  The constant addition of more and more props, this technician, that technician, that caption head, bells, gimmicks, etc. etc. make it virtually impossible to compete with the "haves" and it's destroying the activity. I don't know the answer to your question but some type of limit needs to be put in place before it's too late.

Most likely it already is and that was before COVID.
