Bob984
1978 was an interesting year for the Kilties. First, there was controversy in the off-season, as they decided to go co-ed for the first time. On August 3rd, it didn't look like they were going to retain their finalist position, scoring a 70.6 at DCI North Finals. However, they picked up some steam. I was in another finalist, but I happened to see them in prelims, and I believe that they were on last. During their show, I turned to another member and said, "I think that they have a shot".....by the end of the show, I turned to him and said, "I think they may be in". They got a 79.95 and made finals by .7......going up nearly 10 points in the last 2 weeks. Even though they only made the top 12 on 2 of 11 judges sheets (both brass), they got in. Sadly, they fell significantly the following year, to 32nd, and never recovered competitively after that. It was an interesting 5 year period for them from 1975-1979.......7th-28th-10th-12th-32nd..............
IllianaLancerContra
Was that the year they started the season with the hybrid snare / tenor combos?
