yet Jim Jordan got elected to Congress...and Paterno at least did follow the chain of command in reporting it.

Which brings up the question, if you report something and it doesn’t look like anything was done... what is your responsibility?

As far as our state law for educators, we are required to report any violations to our superior or supervisor which would be the school principal.  Document everything.  If nothing is done, then the teacher has completed their responsibility.  However, the teacher does have the option to contact DHR, but it is better to allow the principal to lead that effort along with the teacher.

My wife, as an elementary teacher, has been required to testify in a DHR hearing.  Sad stories.

Trying to remember regs for federal service but believe it’s the same. But can’t get my head around the “I reported it, so I can ignore anything I see later” mentality. Personally I’ve reported two things (security break and fraud) during my career. One of them nothing appeared to be done so I went back to person I reported to. Was told it was being checked but would take time so hang tight and keep my mouth shut. I did and after a while the offender was removed and upper level supervisor had his butt in a sling for hiring his buddy. (Why I am for anonymous whistle blower laws, if that boss ever found out I was one of the reporters 😥)

I reported to several sources and nothing was done.  I was threatened and had to get my attorney involved.  I definitely don’t feel responsible that this was person was allowed to continue in drum corps for several more years.  The only one who listened was Tricia Nadolny.  If she’s not a hero, I don’t know who is.

Sadly yet another reason why “I reported and that’s the end of it” doesn’t always work. To me you did your moral duty and way too many people do the legal duty of report (and ignore or forget) only.

Nobody else was putting their ### on the line.  Just whispering behind the scenes, defending him, or victim blaming her.

With that, I think I’ll be taking a long break from here.  I’m getting a little creeped out from being doxxed with 2 1/2 year old posts.

I don’t think you know what doxxing means.

100% agree. For some time people saw Nadolny as a snake and someone trying to bring down DCI. She is quite the opposite, she’s a hero for all the people whose voices have not been heard.

First off, I never suggested that anything be buried (nor do I ever think it could be on this forum). My concern was that of the posts that featured the young DM that sent a note to the Mandarins family. In my opinion, she addressed her letter to the Mandarins family not to DCP and beyond. Yes, this is the digital age and that's always a risk you take, I would just hope that we could respect that bit of privacy. That was the reason I asked to close the thread, not to mute the discussion. At some point we have to begin talking about how to protect the victims, even on public message forums.

I hear you Terri. There is a certain individual on here who is an expert about everything and he loves to dig up old posts of mine. This site is slowly turning into the next version of RAMD. Take care Terri and stay safe!
