Can we make an exception though? I really like this list... I dig that there are some really fun/light-hearted shows mixed in with some really dark/serious shows. jwillis35
Blue Devils 2019 (Ghostlight) Bluecoats 2014 (Tilt) Carolina Crown 2016 (Relentless) Garfield Cadets 1989 (Les Mis) Santa Clara Vanguard 2009 (Ballet for Martha: Appalachian Spring) The Cavaliers 1998 (Traditions for a New Era) Madison Scouts 1997 (Pirates of Lake Mendota) Crossmen 1992 (Songs for the Planet Earth) Blue Stars 2008 (Le Tour) Blue Knights 1993 (The Next Generation) Velvet Knights 1990 (Universal Studio/Hollywood Tour) Sky Ryders 1987 (West Side Story) Not sure if this works with your rules, but I tried to only include 1 corps that won the title (BD) and then tried to put the other corps close to where they placed although not exactly. This way it would feel like a normal top 12 but with corps from different years.

I just watched Sky Ryders 1987 for the first time and holy moly is that a good show.

I’ve only really followed DCI closely since 2014, I have a somewhat decent knowledge of 2008-13 from videos, and not much knowledge of 2007 and earlier. I can't believe I'm omitting The Cadets, because there are certainly several shows that I do like, but when I inserted any of them (i.e. 2005, 2011, 2013 and 2015, for example) into this puzzle ... well it broke by its displacement of another corps (so my apologies to fans or alumni of The Cadets ... absolutely no relection on the corps). In order by placement from 1 through 12 in semis: 2014 Blue Devils – Felliniesque – 1 2012 Carolina Crown – For the Common Good – 2 2015 Bluecoats – Kinetic Noise – 3 2013 Santa Clara Vanguard – Les Miserables – 4 2016 The Cavaliers – Propaganda – 5 2010 Phantom Regiment – Into the Light – 6 2019 Blue Knights – I Remember Everything – 7 2003 Madison Scouts – GOLD, GREEN AND RED: The Music of Benoit Jutras – 8 2007 Boston Crusaders – A Picasso Suite – 9 2018 Mandarins – Life Rite After - 10 2011 Blue Stars – ReBourne – 11 2009 Troopers – Western Side Story – 12 I’m lukewarm on my picks for 8-11, TBH. If there is not a requirement that the corps finished in the Top 12 in semis (and thus made finals), then I replace the 2018 Mandarins with 2018 Spirit of Atlanta – Knock! – 13 (for personal and biased reasons). Cavies 2016.... nice

va9590jm
This was a bit challenging, but here's what I got: 1 Cadets 2000 2 Star 93 3 BD 06 4 Crown 08 5 Glassmen 99 6 BK 15 7 SCV 92 8 Blue Stars 10 9 Crossmen 02 10 Madison 01 11 Bluecoats 91 12 Spirit 03 13 Colts 14 14 Pac Crest 19 I found it was easier starting with the first show that came to mind for placements and working from there. Tony L.
Just started watching my list. And if you have forgotten about Colts 1999, do yourself a favor and re-watch it. I still believe it is possibly the best 12th place ever. What a way to start a Finals show!
ftwdrummer
Update: my final list in order of presentation ended up being: 12. Crossmen 2012 11. Blue Knights 2009 10. Boston Crusaders 1999 9. Blue Stars 2014 8. Santa Clara Vanguard 1992 7. Bluecoats 2008 INT 6. Carolina Crown 2007 5. Phantom Regiment 2011 4. Madison Scouts 1995 3. Cadets 2003 (only because I couldn't find full videos of Cadets 2001 or Cadets 1996) 2. Blue Devils 2004 (especially for my dad, who works for the railroad) 1. Cavaliers 2006 Music-before-scores: Cadets 2003 in an auditorium ripping through the end of Malaguena Retreat: 2008 Encore: Bluecoats 2016 My parents, a friend of theirs (watching drum corps for the first time, though she's heard me and my sister talk about it plenty before), and my cousin. General review was rankings were in order of performance (that is, Crossmen 2012 in 12th, Cavies 2006 in 1st). If I were to go back and do it again, I'd probably slot in Blue Knights 2010 instead of 2009, and might opt for Cadets 2009 over Cadets 2003 (though my preference is still 2001 or 1996). I'd actually keep Bluecoats and move to Blue Devils 2003 - The Phenomenon of Cool. As for the 1-Star? This is why I love the subjectivity of drum corps, and art in general...they just happen to wrong 😉
