2022 rule change I would like to see.

Hmmmm... picturing someone whose last year of eligibility is the first year DCI comes back. And they lose their spot to a 23 year old. And no chance to try following year because of age...  Ouch.....

I think many are picturing such highly unlikely scenarios. I mean, if a 21-year-old can't make a corps, it's probably not a 23-year-old (presumably small in number) that is keeping them from it.

If a 23 year old makes a corps then there is one less spot for anyone else to get. Someone loses out no matter what. Corps still fill the maximum number of members for the upper corps right?

Not arguing or saying what should be done. Just bringing up the point there is going to be pain no matter what is decided

i'll be honest, i dont pay attention to the guard side that much, and while i know a few 30 year olds out there, i don't know any 40 year olds.

Agreed, I hate what's happening to current age outs, but I think we have to go back to original rules and cap at 21.

I would also like to see the elimination of all props for a minimum of 2-3 years while corps get themselves back on their feet financially, and the limitation of electronics for the same period. All cost cutting measures to try and keep costs down.

i am ok staying at 22.

but let's face it, every genie DCI has let out of the bottle has yet to be put back in, and props, electronics etc. are not going away. now for a year or two we may see a reduction due to cost and the financial hit the pandemic has created, but trying to legislate any of that being limited is never going to happen

Given that DCI will likely  announce the cancellation of 2021, let's start a conversation about some issues we would like DCI to implement for the 2022 season.   I would like to see the age limit raised to 23. Two reasons: It would allow those members who were denied the opportunity to march in 2020 and 2021 to march another season or two, if desired.   Secondly, raising the age to 23 would allow members who are in college getting Masters degrees or PhD's to continue spending their summers doing drum corp. I would suggest making it a requirement that only full time college students be offered this opportunity.

21 is the age out year. Don't change and no exceptions.

No electronics.

Unfortunately, the electronics ship has already sailed.

The NCAA is granting an additional year of eligibility so why can't DCI?  It wouldn't be a permanent raising of the age limit.

There's no reason not to.

Delay the 55 membership rule at best to 2024 so corps could improve recruiting and still compete.  I'm really surprised no one is taking about this request.  A delay is needed for the smaller corps survival.
