Would you have made the 1000 plus mile flight if it was the "normal" annual event in Indy?

i wouldn't have, and it has nothing to do with Covid.

Yes, I should clarify.

I can’t imagine any corps who intends to participate in 2022, deciding not to have persons in Indy to represent their organization. That would not only be a foolish waste of networking opportunity, education, and planning participation, but also (in my view) arrogant and reprehensible.

The question is, could/should the corps also be represented in some small way by a modified (live) public performance?

My answer . . . absolutely!

So difficult... must control my urge to type. Just... can’t.... do it.

I hope we haven’t reached a point where participants here are afraid to stand firmly behind their personal observations and assessments. We are not able to satisfy the sensitivities of every anonymous reader. That’s on them.

I make no apologies for my views on this timely consideration. Nor should you.

I think we've made progress in not having a thread get shut down because of differences in opinions.

Small steps....small steps.

I agree. However, when “thought police” become a deterrent, why bother to post? Not worth the effort.

I'm not big on the idea of solidarity of any kind. It usually leads to conformity and, for some, an absence of critical thinking. (Sometimes, too, a stifling of alternative voices.) Seems like there are plenty of current events examples of this.

If DCI has serious problems after the Indianapolis events, it won't be because BD, Crown, and SCV decided not to participate.

Conformity makes me think of comments like “why do you feel differently, what’s wrong with you” and “my family goes on vacation every summer, why doesn’t yours”. IOW totally disregarding different opinions and situations (like having the extra $$$ to go away every year).

Are tickets for any of these events on sale yet? Have sites been secured? This all seems a bit “up in the air” to me.  My calendar is saying it’s almost mid-April.

None to date on Ticketmaster or the DCI Ticket Office.  Just a TBA statement from DCI:  "In the coming weeks..."
