It's NEW again!  Can't wait for this.  I hope Spielberg does it justice.

Could we hear another generation of Drum Corp play Officer Krupke, Somewhere, or Mambo?

Unfortunately, the Bernstein estate (who owns licensing rights) has a bad taste in their mouths from recent adaptions of Leonard’s work on the field. I really doubt we will see WSS on the field in the near future.

I was really skeptical about this - that Spielberg wouldn't give it justice.

I'll definitely see it.  I really hope I'm wrong about being skeptical.

I think he will give it a fair treatment. When he is focused on important events, he comes through. And WSS is an important work.

Rita Moreno auditioned and wanted the role of Maria but was passed because she was too ethnic for Maria according to the studio. She's too Puerto Rican to play a Puerto Rican.

Also, Netflix is producing a Bernstein biopic directed by and starring Bradley Cooper with rights granted from the Bernstein Foundation.

There had been a previous announcement of Jake Gyllenhaal in a different Bernstein biopic. At first, I thought "that's a reasonable resemblance" until I heard Bradley Cooper was doing one as well - perfect (self-)casting. Here's hoping we indeed get dueling Lennies.
