IllianaLancerContra
DCI has posted the following (it is relatively short, so I will paste the entire text; link is https://www.dci.org/news/an-important-2021-safety-reminder-from-drum-corps-international ) : An important 2021 safety reminder from Drum Corps International by Drum Corps International Those familiar with the drum corps activity know that a relentless focus on the most granular details is one of the hallmarks of the world’s most elite marching music ensembles. Those new to the party quickly learn that “the drum corps way” is paved with intensive attention to even the finest particulars—all in the pursuit of achieving standard-setting performances by remarkable young performers. This uncompromising approach is even more apparent in the extraordinary planning process for this year’s “Celebration Tour,” which has been in the works for nearly a year. Guided by its “Tour Restart Task Force,” a team of professional medical, health, safety and logistics experts, Drum Corps International and its participating organizations have implemented a series of new safety protocols designed to keep all participants and fans as safe as possible. To that end, 2021’s Celebration Events present some important differences with regard to several longstanding practices enjoyed by generations of drum corps supporters. “We know that interacting with corps performers and staff “backstage” during warm-ups and post-show periods has long been a part of the tradition of the DCI Tour, but we must respectfully ask that you respect all of the safeguards which have been implemented this season by the participating organizations in partnership with DCI and our host facilities,” said Dan Acheson, DCI CEO. “We request no in-person visits by family or friends before or after the show. Performers will not be permitted to return to the stadium after their group’s performance. Only corps members and staff with assigned roles are permitted in some places, including warm-up zones, parking and eating areas, as well as corps entry and exit areas and tunnels.” Additionally, DCI asks audience members to please be mindful of those seated nearby, and to maintain a respectful social distance from other audience members whenever possible. Drum Corps International is grateful to all of the loyal fans and family members respecting the safety of our corps members and guests and for their continued support of the outstanding organizations which comprise Marching Music’s Major League™. Next to last sentence, "...maintain a respectful social distance from other audience members whenever possible." is curious to me. I wonder how many empty seats, if any, LOS et al is placing between audience groups?
mjoakes
I'm sure this is frustrating for a lot of fans, members, and family. It isn't a bad policy, however. And it seems like an easy one to follow.
Tim K
“Whenever possible” would be key. My thought is it might not impact seating but it will impact lines at concession stands, the corps marketplace, entering and leaving the stadium, etc. I think keeping the corps in their bubbles is a good idea. I feel bad marching members cannot go in the stadium after their performances though it makes sense, at least for the first two days. On Saturday, since so many go right from the stadium to the airport, I think they should have the option of entering the stadium but I am not a public health expert, so my opinion is just that, an opinion. The fact that admission is strictly via e-ticket (may not be correct term) on iPhone suggests to me that DCI/LOS is waiting until the very last moment to assign specific fans to specific seats. That way if some new distancing guidance comes out (& who can prognosticate 2-3 weeks into the future at this point) DCI can adjust accordingly. Down side is that some people may be moved to seats less good than the ones they thought they were getting.

I got them last Monday, July 18. Edited July 25, 2021 by Jurassic Lancer

KVG_DC
Will the staff still be bounding up and down the steps during other corps shows to get in place and then talk loudly about things during their own corps performance? Cause that right there will be your vector from the stands to the corps. Edited July 26, 2021 by KVG_DC 1

At LOS, the staff is confined to what I call the “staff pen.” It is behind section 140, but I can sometimes chat with the staff before or after the shows as I am in the last row of section 141. I remember talking with Chris Holland after the Quixotic show and mentioned one of their windmills would look nice in my back yard. He asked me to name a price. 😂
