I think it’s called that because Hell was already taken. I think it was due to the discovery of a lot of natural gas in the area & it became a “boom town”. My niece went there for a visit because they offered her a softball scholarship. She said it wasn’t for her. The actual city is down from the exit a few miles and hasn’t been anything since the natural gas boom that built central Indiana went bust.
