On the flip side, the kid who they had do the narration for 2014 was fantastic.

Absolutely but that kid had a gift. Most 20 year olds don’t sound anything like that.

Somewhere on an eternal hard drive,  old hard drive, or USB key, I have the original 2006 show where History Repeating was the opening statement and White Rabbit was longer.   This is when DCI offered audio downloads from various shows in the season.  I will have to look for it.

Cadets played "White Rabbit" in 1970 as well...it was the first year we did the Peace Sign.

But to be fair, Alice was probably pretty high the whole time. You can’t properly do an Alice in Wonderland show and it not be weird. The same could be said for Jethro Tull. Both shows were gonna be pretty strange no matter what.

And if the critics were loud in 2004 and 2006, they were deafening in 2007. “This, I Believe” just might be the most criticized drum corps show ever. Just imagine how much worse it would’ve been today with social media being what it is.

The Jethro Tull show is my all-time least favorite Cadet show. They really needed the A&E elements of today to do Tull justice, IMO (probably better once flutes are allowed).  2006 was a very good show to me. I loved 2007, including the narration. 2008 was saved for me by the final couple of minutes, otherwise it would have been a race to the bottom with 2004.

I was working on a project in 2006 that involved migrating one retailer's smaller division into the DB of the larger division.

I was the project.  I had technical resources helping, but that was it.

White Rabbit was my go to song for data reconciliation.  As we migrated portions of data I would listen to it while I verified that the batch load successfully merged with the larger DB.

This is because I heard Cadets do it that year.

I thought for sure there was a ABC after school special about drugs that featured the song, but the '70s are not as clear as later periods.

I also enjoyed the 2007 show even with the narration. I’m not saying I think the execution of it was flawless but I can appreciate what they were going for. I would roll my eyes every time someone would say “this show would’ve won the gold without all that talking”. The show was clearly built around the narration and without it, a bunch of awkward moments of silence wasn’t going to gain them anymore GE points.

Will keep looking.

I felt sympathy for the singer they had for 2006.   Her role went from "We want you to do this." to "We want you to do less of this."

I really enjoyed the 2006 show. She did an excellent job. Great voice! I think she came from a HS in Texas.
