I don't see in my lifetime someone else going past 20 other than Blue Devils. The next corps close to BD would be the Cadets at 10. Well I think number 8 for Cavies would be better lol!!! Remember BD may have 19 DCI titles, but they have some CYO titles; other corps have DCI titles, VFW, CYO, and AL titles. So, the Blue Devils have been the most successful DCI corps since 1972, but other corps have many titles as well... The Cavaliers have the following titles: Championship titles American Legion- 1966, '67, '69 VFW-1957, '59, '61–'63, '67, '72, '74, '76, '80 (tie) DCI-1992, '95, 2000 (tie), '01, '02, '04, '06 The Cadets have the following 21 titles: Championship titles American Legion: 1940 1948 1949 1950 1953 1957 1960 1961 1962 1964 CYO: 1984 DCI: 1983 1984 1985 1987 1990 1993 1998 2000 2005 2011 Boston Crusaders: Championship titles CYO: 1964, '66, '67 Santa Clara Vanguard: Championship titles American Legion - 1970 CYO - 1983 VFW - 1971 DCI - 1973, 1974, 1978, 1981, 1989, 1999, 2018 Blue Devils 22 titles: Championship titles CYO: 1976 1978 1980 DCI: 1976 1977 1979 1980 1982 1986 1994 1996 1997 1999 2003 2007 2009 2010 2012 2014 2015 2017 2019
OldSnareDrummer
I dunno, Jeff. Today, saying you own 20 American Legion titles in the 40's and 50's is kind of like saying you're the richest man in Uganda.

But a potentially troublesome way to frame the idea given today’s culture.

Glenn426
So this might have been predicted before, but I think the Covid year will have some slight but noticeable affects on the competitive order. Generally those Corps that pounded on an keep going last year and fielded a full tour and corps will be ahead of the curb, compared to those that reduced or did not field competitive corps last year. It has been an absolute trend in the rest of the marching arts and I don't think DCI will be immune to this. 4

As I mentioned in the BAC thread, some members came on board when their original corps didn't provide a legitimate performance (including touring)opportunity last year, and decided to stay with Boston this year. And frankly, some of those corps might come as a surprise to some people. BAC doesn't just have a lot of vets (30 in the guard alone) but has also seen it's average age increase this year. Does the number of vets guarantee competitive success? Of course not, but it does factor in to the total picture, I would think.
