I know nothing about it, but honestly, I don't see a market for scholastic marching band circuits in the first place. Schools have state circuits and/or regional circuts to choose from. There's BOA for those looking for more. Yes these are fall circuits so maybe something in the Summer but most school districts aren't really doing much to support summer music programs, that's where the band booster fundraising really makes it happen in a lot of places. So the capacity to travel and work on a competitive show in the summer are diminished (probably a large part of the demise of the old MBA summer championships). Add to that Varsity has their name on it and the kids come in talking about the hot mess that Cheer showed and any band director and/or school board is gonna nope out on that if there's other choices of circuts that work better with the school year. About the only 'market' I might see are soundsport level extensions of drum corps who wanna do woodwinds. But doing that in the summer is likely taking talent away from the corps pool. Doing it in in the winter is direct competition with WGI winds, I guess they could go for fall, but then college marching bands are in full swing for football and the high school kids are in their bands.

As a matter of fact, their website still says "Stay tuned for the 2021 date and location." https://www.varsity.com/performing-arts/winter-showcase/ Not exactly taking the marching arts by storm. We shall see. right now it's all in apparrell

Is this really happening? As a director, this is just a 'head scratcher". I had no idea this was a thing. 😳🙄 https://www.varsity.com/performing-arts/pep-band/ IHS Band; these guys were the "National Champs" last year: https://www.independenceband.org/game-day-live-2021-national-champs/ Edited February 10, 2022 by keystone3ply cx
craiga
So, there have just been some allegations of sexual abuse/harassment by one of the US Olympic team coaches. That's it! I am done. Time to burn it down. I will never watch the Olympics again. They have not learned anything. Time to ban all Olympics. Actually, we should ban all sports. Come to think of it, we should just ban all college kids. That would solve it....when will DCI... I mean USOC...take action???!!!!!!

There’s always going by to be a few people who take things to the “burn it all down” extremes when it comes to any issue. Your attempt at sarcasm with your outburst negates any legitimate conversation around a serious issue. 1
Brian Tuma
As a side note: Scandinavian countries have higher rates of (reported) domestic abuse than other developed nations. It’s not because they are more violent it’s because reporters trust the system and are more willing to report abuse because they feel they are being heard and believed by the police and judicial system.

Any info on how USOC is going to investigate or handle it?

Sexual assault has been happening for a long time in that venue. 1
