scouttimp
Todd Ryan wrote the Madison '88 drill as well and I believe was at Star in '91 with Zingali. Great guy!
gunther
It seems like Frank has forgotten about Al Mura, Jim Costello & Les Parks having done just that long before and more than once.

Tom Float was indeed a Kingsmen snare in 1972, but not really a designer, or instructor. That was Donnie Porter Jr.

Hmm. Maybe so. They all taught Cabs and Garfield but did they win both titles on the same day? Maybe so. In more recent times, John Meehan may qualify with wins for Blue Devils A and B Corps. Those would have been the same year but a day or two apart, I believe.

From 1950 through 1963, the Legion held their junior and senior national contests on different days. 1964 was the only same-day victory for Hawthorne and Garfield. Excellent research! So it seems that the triumvirate of Mura, Parks, and Costello could have accomplished that feat, providing all three were on the Garfield '64 staff. The official Cadets history book indicates that Hy Dreitzer was the brass instructor that year, having replaced Don Angelica. But Al Mura may still have been on the team, as well. Gunther can probably confirm this.
gunther
In 1964, Al Mura was not part of Garfield's program but Costello & Parks were.

FTNK
Gino Cipriani was a huge part of Blue Devils' brass staff in the 90s before setting out on his own and winning titles with Cadets (2000, 2005). Not sure if they won brass in 2000 (too lazy to look up) but they definitely did in 2005
