waliman4444
Happy to see the Cadets with days off from competition...With more quality rest in the midst of a heat wave, their physical recovery is a good SCORE in and of itself..Peace 1

If DCI had their version of the "Espys" (ESPN awards) you would get DCI Newcomer Drill Writer of the Year award. I was just rewatching the San Antonio show and your attention to detail in 1) dropping off and picking up small groups and soloists... 2) Dropping off people to move props...3) (Watch this one carefully Cadets fans) over time how the Cadets get out of the cream jackets...all the way to the intro to the ballad! 4) The mix of old skool run and gun and new school staging? Shut... the ... front ... door! You are good! Thank you for being a part of The Cadets all these years and you have done a masterful job this year! People... especially judges... you need to watch what I wrote above and take note of this in John's drill for the Cadets. THIS is what drill writers in our activity really don't do well, unless you are one of the Master Drill Writers (Gaines, Murphy, May, Sacktig, Johnny V). John Bilby is a super good drill writer. The judges need to recognize these ensemble compositional skills and the details needed to not just create effect, but the details... the math and structure... of what John Bilby is doing! If you are not watching closely, you are missing the subtlety of what makes a great drill writer... great... and how good the product they have designed... is. Reward it please? Did he write the entire show or was there help from others?

Thanks for the info because I did not know who wrote the drill but it is incredibly good. It feels like a perfect mix of solid drill, modern staging, and incredible use of the field. The Cadets total show is incredibly good. In my opinion the only shows that can challenge them in the 6-10 range are Blue Stars and Cavaliers. Cavies are cleaning now and trying to make up for missed time and their caption strength could make it interesting. But if Cadets put the spit and polish on this show they could edge closer to SCV, but I doubt they could pass them. Nonetheless, I am loving what is coming from The Cadets this summer. Fantastic show from top to bottom.

henry7184
I am really pleased with and for the Cadets this year. This show is such a huge step in the right direction, and I’m so glad the maroon is back. I love the new uniforming in DCI, but the uniform I miss the most is that of the Cadets. I’ve always thought it was so classy and just stunningly beautiful. But, I’m glad the maroon is back. Now, I wish they would relocate back to Garfield and put the Garfield back in their name. God, when I marched the word “Garfield” just sent chills and fear down ones spine. Edited July 27, 2022 by henry7184

It feels generic to me. I know New Jersey is an expensive state. If they have it good in Allentown then no need to mess that up, and I know nothing about their finances so it's not my place to comment on any of that. But I really miss Garfield Cadets. When I saw them in 1980 at U.S. Open Prelims I could tell they were on the up and up.
chris ncsu
There's much to like about this show, and I think everyone involved should be proud to be in the top 6 right now. The trajectory last year into this year is good, with good responses from the crowd. I hope the members are enjoying themselves. My personal opinion, there isn't much to LOVE about this show. Not yet, anyway.

Well they could still stay in Allentown and name themselves after the cat. 2
