Ah…if you are a 8-10 hour drive to the Atlantic Ocean and a 4 day drive to the Pacific, you are not in the Midwest.  Although many think Ohio is in the Midwest.  Operative word in my mind is “west”.

There is New England the as you go south you reach mid-Atlantic. PA, NJ are tweeners.  NY is northeast.
