Again, anyone who has taught or judged still wouldn’t be qualified to judge all captions and through a stream. If they could, then DCI would save itself some money and buy a Flo subscription for one man or woman and just have them log in and judge from their couch. Good grief - where do you come up with this stuff? You have to be in the stadium to judge. You have to be on the field or in the stands, witnessing the performance live and in person. I’ll stick with believing a panel of judges that DCI itself has approved over some faceless people on the internet who can claim to be anything they want. Please quote that here. I said many times I thought Crown was going to be 3rd (behind BD and Bluecoats). I was wrong. So what. It happens. I do know what I’m talking about. SCV took percussion Boston took guard BD took everything else After BD's show the other night I wasn't sure anyone could beat them. Tonight I thought they were a little off so I wasn't sure how the judges would read the show. But there is no doubt that if BD cleans this thing it is kind of difficult to see anyone beating them. And by the way, it's an exciting Blue Devils show. So much energy. Very excited for Bluecoats to take 3rd. I felt they were extremely dirty tonight, but I love the show and can't wait for them to really polish. I would love to see them take some narration out and only leave in the most important details. Boston was fantastic tonight. Only a few tenths behind Bloo. Leaving GE out of it they will need to address the visual proficiency score, the visual analysis content score, and the music analysis content score. Of course this was just a first read for the judges with the top 5 in action...and on a brutally hot day. Carolina fans should be pleased. That is one fun show. I love it. Brass is amazing, even with BD edging them tonight. Both have amazing brass. If Crown is going to challenge BD they may need to focus the GE a bit more. BD's general effect is so focused, clear, and well executed. The GE2 judge had Crown in 4th. Santa Clara was soooo good tonight. Their best run yet. Their percussion is stellar, and brass is also quite amazing. The members performed the heck out of their show tonight. Sadly their scores in Visual Analysis Composition and Visual Analysis Achievement are what many of us thought could be their issue (at least in terms of the competitive aspects). Color Guard Content was also not good, getting 6th place. But with the right changes this show could move up. So much can change with the top 5. All were wonderful tonight and I truly did not mind staying up late here in NE Ohio. Fantastic shows by all. I think what many of us felt after seeing Blue Devils back in June is coming true. The design is just so strong to go along with excellent brass, percussion, and guard. They march so well, and the jazz running looks smooth. Set changes all make sense minus a little of the closer, and the props are used effectively. The music is fantastic with only a few more tweaks to go. If the Bluecoats can clean the heck out of their show and make the right tweaks they could give BD a challenge. Crown may be able to as well, but I feel Bluecoats have more upward trajectory. regardless of scores I think we the fans all win because there really are some enjoyable shows out there. I am probably more excited to see how the 6th to 10th slots shake out. Blue Stars are so impressive and they do have a shot at 6th. Cavaliers should be super proud to have competed tonight and to have fought through the Covid issues and lack of real rehearsal and performance over the last few weeks. Very impressive considering the difficulties. Don't let down Green Machine. Congrats to the Blue Knights also on their excellent performance tonight. Therefore they haven't placed less than 4th and medal every year since God knows how long. The way that I look at it, as long as they keep winning....the more that every other corps will get stronger in efforts to dethrone them and that's exciting. With that being said, congrats to the guys/gals of Concord.
