Someone has.  Multiple times.

And each of those times there were BD fans whining about how they should have won.

Although they made a memorable impact, I see no reason to believe them to be representative of all or most or even many BD fans.  So I will not paint them with such a broad brush as that would be most unfair.

I would suggest that fans of other corps be extended the same courtesy.

Confused why any BD fan would whine about a different corps winning, it’s all but guaranteed they’ll win it the year after anyway

Update from Facebook about the Crown Color Guard member:
(sorry if it's already been posted)

Hey all - Crown homer here and TeamCrown member..
Just wanted to let everyone know that Andrew, the Crown Color Guard Member that took a rifle to the head yesterday in Denton, is doing fine. His head was cut open, and he was able to get immediate care from the corps trainers and EMT personnel on the sideline. He has a pretty good gash on his head that has been treated. As far as any concussion, the corps trainers and Crown have a protocol for diagnosing and dealing with these, and I am under the impression that this is being followed to make sure he will be OK before he returns to the field.

Thank goodness he is ok! Best news of the day! Major props to Crown and the EMTs for taking care of this young man. Hope to see him back on the field soon!

Happy to hear this young man is going to be ok.  Also happy to see how much BETTER medical care is given to marching members in modern Drum Corps.  Corps trainers and concussion protocols....?  BITD he would have been given a bandaid, salt pill, and told to walk it off.

Here's some fun with numbers....

  • If you were to only add the Visual & Music Totals together from Finals, the placements based on those points would not have changed the Top 12 order for the 2019 & 2018 seasons. 2017 would only swap 9th & 10th place Phantom & Blue Stars.

So grateful the performer is okay, for the update, and for the wellness crew that's supporting him.

This. Cannot. Be. Overstated. What was once a sign of weakness is now being treated the way it should always have been... as legitimate medical concerns. Taking these medical decisions out of the hands of instructional staff was key...

Good to hear the kid is doing ok.  Head gashes tend to bleed like mad and are sometimes way more dramatic in appearance than actual contusion injury.  The concussion risk is probably the bigger one but there are good concussion protocols now and it would seem they're being employed.
