With these hires I believe the Cadets have made the best of a very difficult situation. Brian Murphy is very good and Lee Beddis is the type of strong personality who can withstand the pressure of following Tom Aungst.

As a minority myself, I wouldn't go anywhere near the Cadets org until there's some actual cultural change. And yes, the corps director being African American doesn't mean anything. Denise was a woman and yet Darcy experienced sexism in the workplace

I heard that Ron was not coming back because of the way the Tom situation was handled. He may have changed his mind now that Denise is gone although everything released by the BOARD has no mention of him in any decision making for staff hiring within the Cadets.

Has Lee Beddis mellowed, at all, over the years? I used to hear stories about him being a hardcore a** kicker back in the early '90s. His reputation was quite intimidating during that era.

As a black person who has worked with the Cadets for about 17 years, I can guarantee you they don't have a culture problem. There are many Black, Latino/Hispanic and Asian folks that have worked volunteered, tech'd and taught there. They had an Azzhole problem but I was never made to feel uneasy about race. And, Ron being a Black corps director means a lot. The Cadets reaching out to the HBCU community means a lot. Also, Cadets are one of the most minority friendly, gay friendly, woman friendly corps I've ever worked for other than the Cavaliers. I know there are other corps out there with the same culture.
