Vanguard CEO resigns

Depends on what the role of the new ED is.  If it's going to be to rebuild the organization's finances and employment structure to fit a touring drum corps (or two), not sure there's a whole lot of transition time needed, as they're pretty much at zero now, and the new guy or gal can do it their way.

If it's to oversee the dissolution of the org (not even hinting that's the case, but it's an option) or conversion into something else, again, they're already at zero.  Not a lot of transition time needed, and the new guy or gal will handle it their way here as well.

Also, the last time this happened for SCV, didn't a couple of BoD members step in as temporary directors?  No reason they couldn't do that again too.

Mike

Agree.
There is stuff at SCV that we know we don’t know, and probably stuff we don’t know we don’t know ($0.02 to Don Rumsfeld).  We’ll just have to see how it plays out.

A new ED has to first come in and evaluate every bit of the picture, finances, operations, etc.

you then gotta start building relationships for development, while you're trying to dig out of the hole already your org is in.  while youre trying to staff it all.

you also have to cut costs...

and you have to find board types to come in gung ho who are BOTH talented and excited to help you dig out of the hole...

whoever gets this... good luck.

So does SCV look internally for new head. Good: familiar with current operations. Bad: possible hard feelings due to the current mess.

Or look outside. Good: someone who can start fresh without any baggage from taking year off, etc. Bad: just how many people are there available (not with another corps) in the DC world who can step in and be knowledgeable enough to do the job

Yikes!  Since one could arguably say that the 2024 season begins (organizationally) in September, which is now 6 months away, the notion of them coming out next year is beginning to look like an impossibility as well.  To accomplish everything that needs to be done in the next 180 days or so would be a herculean task, even if the alumni were NOT currently engaged in a full out civil war.

I’’m trying to convince a long time friend of mine to think about applying; he has experience having started a drum corps in his living room, helping it flourish and yes it is still around.
