I had several college classmates march in the 80s & a couple of students several years ago. (2000s maybe?) Yes. Jim taught them their first year as a favor to George Lindstrom.

I just remembered when our students marched in the 2000s, they were titled "Memphis Sound". Don't like getting old. 😂 Anyway, I remember they sponsored at least one home show in the SE Memphis area. I hope they do well! Thanks for DCX; it's a great source! http://www.dcxmuseum.org/index.cfm?view=corpslist&Corpsid=1410
OldSnareDrummer
Good to see a new start up, or re-start as it were. Best wishes to them. I see Michael Gaines on staff there. That won't hurt anything,

Jurassic Lancer
It’s good to see them back! I remember back in 1980(?) when they came off the line with Barnum and Bailey’s Favorite. I thought they had a really good horn line and expected great things from them in the future. Who knew the future would be so long in coming. Tim K
I remember seeing Memphis Blues in Boston. It was a new corps and while I can’t say I recall the specifics of their shows, I do remember enjoying them and seeing great potential. Then they were gone, which was sadly the case with so many corps of that era, but times were tough economically. You could still work in the summer to pay fall college tuition so recruiting was a challenge. I think quite a few former Memphis Blues Brass Band members marched with 27th. Same was true with Avant Garde when they disbanded. 2
