wilme861
I'm sorry but I have to say it even though it's unbelievable premature and overreacting but I don't care... Crown Drums was closer to the Sanford tonight than Crown Brass was to the Ott. The tables have finally turned!!! Ok, I'll get off my high horse and get back in my lane at the next show where normalcy will probably return 🤣 2
WildcatMello
After reading some comments and the recaps I'm a little surprised with where the brass placed. They weren't as clean as I expected them to be. They were cleaner last year at this event. But the content they're playing I'm not worried. They were fourth last year at this event and look where they came out in the end.. they'll learn from this and move forward
nhs75902
Kinda thinking it's just an off night for the brass. Judges might hear something on field that we can't. Not worried and they're still winning brass again in my eyes if they keep cleaning + adding the closer

Lots of good work in the past but it doesn't seem to be too effective moving forward in this era of drum corps. Definitely going to be some growing pains with the new coordinator but hopefully it'll move them I'm a new direction that this corps desperately needs.
WildcatMello
Back home now. To be honest, it didn't wow me. But then I wasn't wowed by any of the other corps really, except for Phantoms sound. They had the best crowd response at the end by miles. Crown's brass sounded off to me, and the hits . they made weren't as powerful as I was expecting. But I've felt the same way every since 2017. This does feel a lot like last years show. And I can't place it, I really can't, but it gives me Inferno vibes. Maybe it's because I feel that the ending they could put on could totally change the game up, like what happened in 15. The problem is that the other top corps are just as good, and Bloo and BAC's shows are much easier to clean. I think BD's show is rather off this year. Once Crown cleans up, like they did last year, and adds an ending they'll be set. They're brass scores for BA last year were not great either so I don't think anyone should worry about that. I don't really care for the smaller props they're using, they just don't really add anything to the show to me. I don't think BAC can add much more to their show. Which is how I felt last year and they slowly feel behind. I'm getting that this year too. I think Crown just had a bad night to be honest. One thing I was wanting to hear was the soloist during the ballad. I've kept my mouth shut but every recording I've heard of them the soloist and the front end, pit, etc, sounding really out of tune every time they played it. But tonight it didn't sound like that at all so I'm thinking it's just the recording that is off. Lets' just sit back and see what Promethean will do for them. The ending that added last year finally put them in a better spot, and i expect it will happen again. I'd be shocked if it doesn't. There's just so much more that can be done to add to the package than other corps out there. I love them, but I really don't like that I've never been able to see them live after they've finally completed the ending they way it's intended to be done because live in the midwest and they don't do that till they're further east later in the season. I'm rather jealous of all you folks that get to see the more finished product. 2

There is no pulse to the show and its surprising because i believe every year crown puts the best package on the field. The show is too overthought and the production is lacking. And my gosh did Phantom deliver after a show in another state the day before and they go down almost a full point. 🤐 Edited July 17 by CROWNHADMEatHELLO

Crown was the only show up there with an in incomplete package: no clear characters to tie to storyline together and no final conclusion. I also think their Brass was off last night. When I was listening, I kept thinking they sounded meager compared to their previous show. Regardless, they got some great feedback on judges tapes last night. Use it and maximize the show. I think you are right that BAC is going to be limited on where they can add, but this show can grow by leaps and bound quickly. So heads up to all. It’ll be ok. Btw. Curious what it’ll take for Crown to move up in captions for percussion and guard? They were killing it last night.

Nicest guy but I’m afraid I have to agree with you. Staging seems to be the thing now.

Do we want all corps doing the same thing? Crown is the only one in the top 5 doing anything remotely different. Leadership needs to think about it, for sure. But there’s something being lost not seeing much marching in many of the top shows. 3
