Folks...you know the story bits were pulled from the source music, right?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Einstein_on_the_Beach

But what fan wants to read an article to understand a story? Not many.

I can say this about every show today. I mean the themes are just ridiculous. I am not going to spend one second researching ones theme to try and understand their concept more. I'm just going to enjoy the music and visuals and be done. Like the old days, where I just heard The Nutcracker or Russian Christmas Music and was happy. I'm not saying bring those back, just dump all the silly concepts.

Gauging by how many people didn't realize "the whale will win in the end" for Boston last year.

And how many people in 2015 were "surprised by the glorious ending" for Inferno.

And how many people aren't looking ahead to what will be added this year for Crown.

I'd say quite a few can't be bothered with it...heh.

I spent so much of 2015 saying "...the beautiful things heaven bears" will make this show amazing at finals while people were ragging on Inferno for being dull.  Then those same such people were "OMG THAT ENDING IS BRILLIANT WHERE DID THEY THINK THAT UP?"

Inferno was incredibly dull for much of the season. Many of us thought that (on here, and out in the world where I was). By the end of the season, the whole show was incredible. It was magnificent.

But, it's not 2015 and this show isn't Inferno.

I'm looking forward to what's going to be added to Crown's show for entertainment purposes, not competitive purposes. I'm sorry, but for Crown to compete for 3rd place (or higher) or compare to Inferno, it would require a complete visual rewrite.

So what does that tell you?

It tells me that I think it needs a complete visual rewrite, not that I think the visual team needs to be replaced. They just need a new mindset.

Well I think a change to the visual team is needed and I know a lot of people don't agree with me, it's just my opinion but I'll always be a Crown fan.

Stop stalking me 🙂 Haha, just kidding.

I don't know enough to say whether or not the current team can design a better product. You could be right. But, the story here is THEY HAVE TO!

I'll always be a Crown fan, too. I was heartbroken in 1994 when Star of Indiana didn't return. In 2004, I started to notice Crown more, and in 2008 they made me miss Star a little less. Not saying Crown is a twin of Star, but the beautiful brass books coupled with powerful and emotional hornlines, coupled with great visuals made me consider them Star's heir.

I've been off and on since 2017. Not liking 2018 and 2022 at all, loving 2019 and 2023. I'm not too sure, yet, what category I'd put 2024 Crown in, but I do know I wouldn't put it with 2018 and 2022. Right now, it's between not liking and loving.

It's all good, I actually like what you post on DCP.
