Weaklefthand4ever
Just watched last night's run. It's really starting to clean up. The transitions are much more defined both musically and in the drill execution. The battery and front are coming along nicely. There's an excellent full percussion run on youtube that highlights some front ensemble writing that I still can't actually hear during the show. This is solid top 5 unless something really weird happens.

It shouldn't be a goal. It's hard to say where Regiment is in relation to anyone right now, but I believe they are right in line with Vanguard and Mandarins, and I don't see any of those three pressuring the top 4 at all. I just don't. They are at a different level. I would LOVE to be wrong here. If you look at last night's recap, it's entirely possible had Boston and Crown been there the spread between Bluecoats and Regiment would have been bigger. Example: The GE 2 judge gave Bluecoats a 17.2 and Regiment a 17.0. If Boston and Crown were there and Bluecoats were the best GE 2 corps and Regiment the 4th best GE corps, it would have been wider than 2 tenths, and that spreads across captions. We saw this with BD last year. Look at the scores coming into finals. 8/2 Allentown, BD beats Bluecoats by 0.525, 8/3 Allentown Boston beats Crown by about 0.04. 8/6 BD beats Crown by 0.4. Everyone thought it was a four way race. BD ends up winning finals by over a point. When I look at 2023 Regiment vs 2024 Regiment it's a night and day difference. Everything about the 2024 is more complex and demanding, the design is heaps better, and the members are executing the hell out of it. I think that's the goal. I think they are achieving the goal. Top 4 this year? Probably note. Top 4 next year? That might be possible. Edited July 14 by Vuitton

We saw this with BD and the other three last year. When BD was 1 on 1 with one of them, the scores were tighter, when all 4 were together they widened. That's because in many captions the judges had to fit one or two more corps in between BD and the corps they were 1 on 1 with previously. Top 4 this year? Probably note. Top 4 next year? That might be possible. I'm certainly not arguing this point, and I'm not suggesting that top 4 is a goal. I've mentioned multiple times that I'm far more interested in design competence than placement, and this design staff is putting together a competent product and will continue to do so as long as they're together. Do I believe Regiment will finish in the top 4? Of course not. But I think they'll be close enough to fourth that it's not outlandish to use that as motivation come finals week. And I think it's laudable that they'd be in that position.

Whether they are 1st or 10th, this year's show is a massive improvement. I am really happy for them, and along with Boston it's my favorite show of the season, by far. billj
From viewing the DeKalb performance, my best guess for the San Antonio update is that the partial cubes that are currently along the perimeter (plus one is brought front and center by the low brass duet) will have colored material and be brought onto the field at the end. Also possible would be adding color to the full cubes, but that would be harder to pull off based on how they already use them in the show. Slight chance: some type of costume tweak at the end. Edit: I could also see a translucent material covering the boxes the brass are in during the ballad hit Edited July 14 by billj

Vuitton
I bought a Regiment shirt in the off season. Also Vanguard. The Vanguard one is better quality, but I gotta get more Regiment stuff.

Weaklefthand4ever
.20 behind BD ain't shabby at ALL. Solid score PR. Hopefully someone from DCP was there so we can get a read. Does anyone know who the perc judge was tonight? We usually don't see drum scores drop by .60. I would be curious about the run. Edit: Found the drum judge. Interesting score Edited July 16 by Weaklefthand4ever
