I've never done a GFM donation before, so I don't know what sort of % they take and I never know for sure how legit the organizers are, but I applaud someone's efforts to at least try and help make a dent. Agree though, I'll help out directly with the corps.

Donate directly to the corps and avoid the (massive) chunk that Gofundme takes.

This is true however I like the visibility aspect where we can ALL see how much is donated - a lot of trust issues at the top right now.

is the goal to get them back out this year or to fill the coffers and maybe even build reserves for the future?

I wish Cadets ZERO ill will, but maybe they don't have the financial backing to operate a DCI corps. What happens the next time they're short on money if the GFM bandaid has been removed from the medicine cabinet?

Corps need a consistent revenue stream that will allow them to meet their needs and it appears that there is no such stream here. Has anyone done a deep dive into the reality of them having operating revenue sources?

They've got to bridge the gap somehow unless you're suggesting the corps just fold.

If I give them money and they fold anyway then at least I tried

I think the goal is help them however we can. I personally think that without an influx of 200k plus, they can’t come back this year. But if we just throw our hands up and give nothing because they’re taking a year off, they won’t be able to come back.

Throwing money at them isn't going to fix years of awful institutional financial management.  Who even knows where your money would be going at this point?

I would argue that since CAE took over as the new organization overseeing the Cadets, they’ve been fiscally responsible.

Nothing about this decision and communication shows that they are in dire situation. It was made based on the fact income for next season wasn’t going to cut it for expenses. It was a proactive decision. Not a reactive one.
