Always in the gym on a free evening and I recall all instructional staff and support staff/volunteers were invited to watch and have fun. Corps where I taught in the late 80s early 90s was a combined rookie talent & legacy night. All was approved by the corps director & staff. The entire event had an 'educational' atmosphere. It started with some awesome rookie talent which included instrumental, vocal, & dance performances followed by veteran members along with the corps director describing the history of the corps. None of this 'hazing' bull poop. 💩🙂 Edited January 10 by keystone3ply c 1 Quote

But now, due to national membership, parents are minimally involved. If they aren’t dropping the kids off at practice, it’s hard to snag them to be on uniform committee, food volunteer, or chaperoning for a few weeks. My mom and grandmother were parent chaperones back in the late 80's for a week around mid-season. Unfortunately for me, they yanked me from the corps based on what they discovered going on in the buses! 1 Quote
