I found out about the top groups mic'ing two of every part to mix through sound board and am not a fan of that. Mic soloist only for solo though as long as it helps transition I'm good. They do not have individuals mic’d for tutti moments but they do use a number of field mics exclusively to enhance volume and allow members to play with control during tutti moments. If you see them live it’s obvious. With that said, there’s nothing wrong with that when done tastefully, but don’t deny it’s happening. 😂

mjoakes
Phantom's show is another very good one. Interesting to consider where this corps was not long ago. Great sound - best ending excitement of the night. (Blucoats have an exciting ending, too, with as clever beat that sort of bookends their show.) They've got big props, but these don't get in the way of showcasing the corps and are well integrated into their show.
billj
Blues coats. Top notch across the board. Stereophonic effects are cool. Seamless design. Brass sound is amazing. Can see this winning the gold. Crowd loved it.
mjoakes
Walking back to my hotel, I thought: There's a Grand Canyon separating BC, Phantom and then the rest.

BlueStainGlass
Also we are all idiots because none of us can understand Cavies GE carry 😅 also how does everyone's MA pretty much match their brass and perc but one? billj
Regiment. Crowd loved them. Power! The pacing seemed better, but didn't notice a lot of changes. The only obvious change was at the very end, they've juice it up. Longer chord and more flourishes. The thing about this year is the percussion and guard are a notch up.
