New blood in the Top 12

Recommended Posts

I didn't follow DCI yet in 2002, but I've always been fascinated looking at the results of that year...Madison Scouts missing finals after making it every year since 1973. Carolina Crown falling all the way to 16th after being 10th the year before. Then Seattle Cascades seemingly coming out of nowhere to make finals and Magic coming back strong and making finals after two exhibition only seasons. It feels like that must have been a wild season to follow the competitive part of the activity.

Cascades finished 2nd in Division II in 2001 (and 17th in Division I Semifinals) and then moved up to Division I in 2002 and powered their way to 12th.

Magic of Orlando in 2002 was an unfortunate situation where they were forced by DCI rules to compete in Division II after returning from an inactive year. They blew away the competition to easily win Division II and then went on to make Division I finals later that week.

That was fun.

As for BDB. Some WC corps better be careful next week. They might find themselves looking up at BDB. They are legit this year. And that brass line could stand up to some WC lines. It would not shock me if BDB was 16th or better next week.

What has BDB been up to as of late?  Haven’t seen them in a show in quite some time this season.

Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. They didn't tour after the west coast shows.

It'll be curious to see what sort of effect that layover has next week.
