SCV can pull that off bc they have Michael Gaines as a secret weapon. BD got strong in recent years by use of props with aid of props.  It’s like a football team.  Crown needs to do the show best aligned to its roster of talent. Or pull in talent that can do the show they want.

BD has always used a lot of props. Not just recent years. But just because other corps do it, doesn’t mean every corps needs to do it. Park and bark, then moving props just ain’t it for me. If Crown were to use a lot of props and make it work with what they like to do with playing a lot of notes on the move, then great, but it’s just not them IMO

Drill writer.  He was Cavaliers drill guy in the 2000s and done shows like Babylon. He’s the best of the best.

The idea that Crown needs to entirely change directions is IMHO completely and utterly false.  Do not try to be Bluecoats or BD.  Be your own thing.  It will be credited if it's designed well and executed flawlessly.   Crown did neither of these things visually with Promethean.   Trying to be Bloo without Vanderkolff or BD without Chandler is just plain dumb.  Boston's show was "Out of This World" with hoops instead of trampolines.  Nothing ground breaking but it was really well put together and they executed the snot out of it.

Visually Crown needs to get cleaner sooner.  The team there now (I think they came from Spirit?) did not get it done this year.

Musically it's percussion (AGAIN!).  Let's see if they can adapt just enough to give the line a chance to get closer to clean.

Guard -- I agree with @Flguardman .  Let Tyler have WAY more input at the design table.  The creative team is far too skewed to the music and drums side.  It needs to be pushed far more to the visual side. And IMHO Jeff Sackig needs that strong visual partner to really get his creative juices flowing.

Michael Gaines has forgotten more about GE than anyone else in the marching arts ever knew.

Two word(s): MORE MACKEY.

By season’s end, I was head over heels with that piece.

Unlike many DCI performed musical works over the years, I’m so hoping to hear this again soon, at the HS level.

And unless it's a BOA powerhouse, watered-down grade 3/4 renditions readily accepted.

Give me a few years to graduate and get myself into Hebron’s staff and I’ll do it lol

I agree 1000%. Let the visual drive the music. Once you have a good visual foundation, pick the music to go with it. It can still be typical crown music, but the visual needs to take priority over the music

It’s pick a concept that is easy to connect visual and music.  They should all work together equally.

In theory, yes it should be equal. I just feel like the visual design has been put on the back burner in some of these recent shows and it would be nice to see the visual design come before the music

Just because I was curious, I looked it up. Crown placed below 4th for the first time in a DECADE and only the SECOND time below 4th since 2008. They haven’t gone anywhere and they aren’t going anywhere. I trust them to get back into the top 3 sooner rather than later
