In 2023 the caption head got fired/left mid tour and someone took over. Then they hired Lentz and co for 2024 that didn't make it to April camp, and then the Origins team came on for the rest of the year. I'd give them some time to cook. 5 Quote

The main character is an intergalactic, wait, gunslinger! There are a ton of plot lines in that body of work. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Tower_(series) I’ve read the series several times. (And pretty much everything else King has written.) It’s basically Stephen King’s Lord of the Rings. (Mike Flanagan is supposed to be working on a streaming adaptation, and I can’t wait.) Roland isn’t intergalactic, per se, but he does, on occasion, slip between worlds. Even though the actual story is probably a little dense for translation to the field, the aesthetic— basically the old west, with scattered technological remnants of a civilization long gone (the “old ones”) that the current inhabitants don’t really understand— would be cool as hell. With the occasional monster thrown in for good measure. Oh, and it would give them reason to work Hey Jude into a show. Quote

I would absolutely put my faith in the Origins team. Their WGI guard has really been cooking lately. Looking forward to seeing what they can do with a full season of planning next summer. Quote
Vuitton Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 Well, I think it's back to the drawing board for everyone who isn't Bluecoats and Boston Crusaders - a new direction is happening and the era of large props is probably over. Going to be interesting to see what next year holds. 1 Quote

Maybe but I also suspect the issue is they need more talent in the guard to write a book that makes a stronger contribution to the overall package. Edited August 12, 2024 by DCI-86 1 Quote

TheOneWhoKnows Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 I think next year could be very interesting. When you come off a year where two corps have put together the puzzle and were as successful as they were against the formula, this is when innovation and different things start to happen. We could see Blue Devils do something out of this world. Crown is likely to pivot (oh dear god do I hope they pivot). Mandarins are probably going to push the envelope. Lord knows Phantom is doing the thing. This year makes the future of drum corps exciting. 3 1 Quote
