Put your horn down in the sun for a minute and you were getting burned. Grass evaporated from practice fields. Fun... Yeah, brutal. And we were doing sectionals some where in Texas and all the sudden a chunk of the horn line started getting bitten by fire ants. Quote

My band had a new campground my senior year that had an alternate field on a marshy area. It was considered the 'cool field' because if you jumped hard enough in spots, you could see the land ripple a bit. Marshy. Anyway, brass and saxes were kept on the main field to run drill (because our drill was together for the section of the show we were working on that morning). Other woodwinds were sent to the practice field to work on music. As they're clarinets and flutes and pics...they were allowed to sit/kneel I guess as the story went. All we knew was all of a sudden, they were all running back like hell over the hill screaming like Jason popped out of the lake in his mask. Turns out the marshy filed was infested with jumping wolf spiders. 6 Quote

I was raised in Houston TX and we knew a thing or two about spiders and snakes. Unfortunately I was a little kid and knew NOTHING about the sheer terror of water moccasins and rattlesnakes!! No. No. Never. No. Wrong. Bad. Run!!! F*ck that- I’m outta here!!! 3 Quote

I know we're getting off topic here, but it's the offseason, so who cares? About 10 years ago I did a friend trip to New Orleans. We went on a swamp tour. Our guide was this big, burley guy who could probably knock me out in 2 seconds flat. During the tour, on the boat, I asked him if he sees snakes a lot out here. He said, "Oh, hell no. I don't do snakes." Then proceeded to tell us one time a cottonmouth (water moccasin) fell out of a tree and into the boat. He said he didn't even hesitate for a second and jumped into the water. He said he'd take his chances with an alligator over a snake any day, LOL I would have fainted. Neither staying in the boat or jumping into the water are viable options. I won’t pay money for that experience and would rather get a beer instead. Yeah, like no one seems to understand why Australia is off my bucket list. Have you see the large spiders that eat snakes? WTF? No really… that’s some James Cameron nightmare #### that I ain’t gonna f*ck with. That’s a continent I will never go to thankyouverymuch! I’m actually good in LA, CA believe it or not… hehehehehe! 1 Quote
ranintothedoor Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 To wrangle things back, I'd say the group that should not go to the drawing board was Madison. I felt a tinge of what I loved about them from the 90s. 🙂 I enjoy Madison most years, but I LOVED their vibe this year. 1 Quote

I will agree with you there, they were able to capture that old Madison feel but still stay fresh and updated 2 Quote
