theonlyfizzle
Not going to get too chatty now... Just one question. What MUSIC are you hoping/dreaming for the Blue Devils to do in 2025 or beyond that ? Expound/explain why ? For me I'd love a full on Jazz show. Like a mix of classic and new or just purely new Jazz with Blue devils distinct magnificent sound. I read early on on dcp here, someone stating this same thing, but then said it probable wouldn't be as competitive. But i disagree with that, i think a full out jazz show done by the blue devils with today's standard of show design would be totally cool and competitive.. @Chief Guns and I is hoping/praying for a full on Gorden Goodwin show from BD. A full on Jazz show would be unique, a blast, even stellar in a fresh BD style! All newly composed by GG in probably a conceptual theme that would allow them the freedom to go crazy. 5
LoveKathyG
I’d love to see them resurrect their Buddy Rich music from decades ago. Whatever the case, I would bet my last dollar there will be few props if any and that they’ll retire the formula they’ve been using the last 5 - 6 years. I strongly suspect they see the writing on the wall.
ContraFart
BD should simplify visually and be musically thematic rather than conceptually thematic and they will not only win, but win back a lot of people.
Popular Post KVG_DC
A West Coast Jazz show would rock my socks. Stan Kenton, Dave Brubeck, Gerry Mulligan, Don Ellis. Bring out the weird time signatures and make a marching/movement feast of it. Alternatively lean harder into the anime music with not just the music but the look. Draw from popular manga and anime for the visual package and geek us all out beyond all imagination. Seatbelts + Blue Devils collab if they can leverage anything they may still have from Japan connections? Imagine... 10

I would love them to lead with music and challenge the visual designers to build from the musical ideas. For me, that would be a fresh direction for the corps while staying true to their roots. Chief Guns
While the top two streak was snapped, BD did keep another streak intact, going over the 97 scoring barrier, extending their DCI record to a mind boggling 16th consecutive competitive season. Next closest...........Cavaliers, 8 seasons, 1999-2006. Consistency at its finest. DO IT UP DEVILS. 5

But i know Buddy Rich is popular because i've seen the references, just don't know them like that. If you know the shows with the selections you can help me out here to find them. Thank you! ANYONE ELSE WHO KNOWS ? Channel One Suite, 1976, 1977 and 1986, maybe others. Not the composer but he and his band were the best known performers of the piece. 2
