I was shocked that the North American Brass Band Association Championships did not come up on the DCP Forums.

No amplification, no props, no sampling, no mixing, no electric keyboards, no costume changes, just 100% pure musical talent and hard work displayed to the audience.

AWESOME!

Here is a taste of the first place group, Fountain City Brass Band.

Are the top American brass bands as good as the top bands in the UK?

This performance has some amazing moments and it is a very difficult piece, but as far as British brass band competitions go, I don't think that it would have won against a Black Dyke or Tredegar. Those folks are #### near flawless.

World rankings, if you're curious: https://brassedon.com/Rankings Fountain City is currently 123rd. Black Dyke, widely considered the best in the world for half a century or more, is currently 3rd.

The drum corps to brass band pipeline is very real.

Cory has won the European Championships seven times since 2008.

Cory is flat out SCARY GOOD!  Check out their performance of Brussels Requiem by Bert Appermont.  It may seem a bit long but I guarantee it is worth it.
