lowend Posted July 11, 2025 Posted July 11, 2025 Anyone else having a hard time getting excited about drum corps over the past few seasons due to the late start? I used to finish up Memorial Day weekend and then start looking for videos, watching shows online, etc. Now, it's so hard to find stuff during May/June that other interests have taken its place. I used to host semi/finals viewing parties in my band room for my students, but don't even bother now. 3 2 Quote
Red Dragons Posted July 11, 2025 Posted July 11, 2025 I think Big Loud and Live was usually around June 18 so not really close to memorial day? It's later but to me nothing seismic. Quote
fighterkit Posted July 11, 2025 Posted July 11, 2025 I can sorta agree. It felt weird having such a late start. I haven't been as interested in drum corps as previous seasons, but part of that might be the late start, part might be I started a new job recently, and part of it may be Im getting older and I really only care about the home teams. 3 Quote
NewArpege Posted July 11, 2025 Posted July 11, 2025 I’m not a fan of the late start or the reduced competitions. It lowers the excitement level…..well, at least that’s our experience on east coast. Everything exciting is happening out west. 2 Quote

Maybe a bloody good thing with the stormy weather we've had in the east! Quote

For example, BD is the standard bearer for our activity and is performing an average of twice a week. 28 days of spring training, 19 dedicated rehearsal days after spring training (not counting travel/rehearsal or laundry/rehearsal), 17 competitive performances after spring training. This isn't right. 5 Quote
Mello Dude Posted July 11, 2025 Posted July 11, 2025 I agree, it's a lot of work for so few shows..IMHO. 3 Quote
