If you look at all the years the guard staff has been there they have averaged 5th. They are trying to be like a Boston guard but the staff are holding the kids back.

And when are we going to get a drill writer that doesn’t write like the 1980s. It looks so dated compared to everyone else in finals.

How are they holding the kids back?  And what are you looking for in the drill writing?  More park and bark like the majority?

That’s one thing with judging I don’t get. I see a corps like Crown moving quite a bit and I see another corps named after a primary color and Lucifer win while marching as a whole corps literally less than half the time. But they can scatter and move furniture like no one’s business. And that corps wins visual. I just don’t get it. Let the attacks begin….

Well the majority with the park and bark are winning. So, maybe something like that would be good.

Some corps can get points for that and some don’t. How that is I can’t say. 🤷‍♂️

I’m copy/pasting this directly from a Reddit post so I admit I didn’t tally the amounts myself but this is what it said:

”Total time of brass performers marching & playing simultaneously for the top 12 drum corps:

•    Bluecoats 3:50.82
•    Boston Crusaders 2:20.90
•    Santa Clara Vanguard 3:36.92
•    Blue Devils 3:54.51
•    Carolina Crown 3:31.45
•    Phantom Regiment 2:25.33
•    Mandarins 3:14.22
•    Cavaliers 2:12.68
•    Blue Stars 1:57.36
•    Troopers 3:19.85
•    Colts 2:35.65
•    Blue Knights 1:59.92“

I liked the drill this year but honestly the props held the visual potential back immensely. It sometimes felt like Sacktig was forced to avoid the props with his writing and that’s not a good situation.

Less stationary props = a more open field visually = more opportunities for drill that excites in my opinion

While we’re on the subject of music, I’ll also say I think we’re due for another masterpiece of a brass book. I’ve heard this was a young hornline so maybe they’ll kick it up next year.

But the last two years, their finals brass content scores have been 3rd (2024) and 4th (2025), respectively. Can’t remember the last time a Crown book wasn’t top 3 in content…
