Yeah I don't think "tricks and giggles" was meant to be derisive but a notation that the injection of moments in BOOM really drew the attention of the audience and a reaction.

Variations on a Gathering had its little 'tricks and giggles' too that I really didn't see on Flo very well even after having seen them so clearly live in Delaware.  They didn't really connect though as, dare I say it, there was almost too much seamless flow in the show as performers floated out of forms and were drawn back into the gathering.

Boston and Bloo however had their moments stick out much more and that'd be something I think BD should explore.  Put in things that are 'HEY LOOK AT WHAT WE CAN DO' more openly to showcase some showmanship.  They can surely find a way to showcase and retain the feeling of elegance they've been going for.

The Cut Outs had that nice balance to me as I can still visualize and hear the duet in Both Sides Now with the pair moving seamlessly in sync in that distinctive BD slow step.  And the screamer slightly delaying the hit and releasing that amazing high note that both punctuated and release the tension of in intro to Both Sides Now.

I think a hot West Coast Jazz show would give them ample opportunity to do that sort of thing.  BD always seems to find a crazy good set player.  Do a Rich v. Roach show with a drum duel between the battery and the set player would be that kind of "OMG" moment.

It’s that time of year when rumors start swirling. Typically, i don’t even think about it, but am starting to wonder if changes will be coming this year? Anyone heard anything?

This is pure personal preference, but I do want BD to try incorporating their "full story line" (maybe not the best term for it) type of shows again of the past decade - Felliniquese, Ink, As Dreams Are Made On, Ghostlight, and Dreams & Nighthawks.

I love that BD dipped their toes into "concept" shows this year as I think it was actually a very beautiful and emotional show. But my preference will always be for these story-type shows that have a musical rep that includes original melodic themes (which most of them had in the list above). Those BD shows have read more like a musical theater production - which I LOVE! Perhaps, even the best aspects of both types of shows.

Regardless of what they end up doing next year, I just want to make sure that the MMs end up loving their show and are excited to perform it. That's really all that matters.

I'm pretty sure I'll be in the minority when I say this, but I very much enjoyed BD's 2025 program. I would love to see something similar in '26. I'll admit, it didn't grab my attention until I saw it live. But from that point on, I was hooked.

So yeah, more of that please. Scores be d***ed.

If you are in the minority then so am I. I really enjoyed the show and only want them to expand the field from end zone to end zone. The props pretty much trapped them between the 15s.

Put me in the minority club as well. Loved BD this year!

For me, I'm still holding my hope for that GG full jazz show, really flashy, complex, fun and with levels if dynamism full on. Sassy and loud, hard and rumbling, soft and emotional.

if not, I want them to GO CRAZY, really BIG, and out there kind of crazy.

With a familiar but Outlandish music that fits BD, something not expected visually but still familiar to their style, that pushes the crazy. With their level of performance and talent. Giving us very bold and crazy, with a balance of their elegance and swagger.  I don’t know what that would be thematically, but they can pull this off, whatever it it looks like.

I don’t know why I thought of this today but I really loved the Dreams and Nighthawks show where they recreated Nighthawks at the end of the show.  The Cut Outs, too.  My fave is still  Felliniesque but I do like the Art shows.
