regimentlvr Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 Ok, kicking off what’s next for PR. The conversation last year at this time was about potentially medaling this year. I loved 2025, but the show ran out of steam. Hoping to see a resumed climb toward the top in 2026. Quote
KVG_DC Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 I’m curious what this team would do with the black uniform look. 1 Quote

college-phan Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 I have big expectations for 2026. Anniversary year, alumni corps, plenty to prove. Perfect recipe for a very special season. 2 Quote

MikeRapp Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 (edited) Spartacus. Or: Have Elsa actually push through the corps to get to her deceased lover. Would bring the house down. After watching the clip literally hundreds of times I still cry. Edited August 10, 2025 by MikeRapp 4 Quote
kdaddy Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 I posted this in a different thread, but I'll offer again here. I'll forever be stuck in the old musical design approach Regiment took, so this is meaningless. Nevertheless... *** But as a Finland fan (Fanland) and a Sibelius fan, I'd love to see them do a show based on "sisu," or the Finnish word for the ability to overcome. They've lasted 60 years, with plenty of hardship along the way - they've needed some sisu... (there's a delightfully over-the-top Finnish action movie from 2023 called Sisu - check it). Some great Finnish music that could be supplemented by new stuff: - Pre-show of the opening strains of the Sibelius violin concerto, describing the frozen stillness of Finland - Pohjola's Daughter (Sibelius) has some great low brass moments - Tapiola (Sibelius) is a bit meandering for a ballad, but it has some powerful sections (e.g., PR's ballad last year), same with Swan of Tuonela - Kullervo Goes to War (Pylkkanen) would make a great conflict section - With some clever arranging, Spring Song (Sibelius) could make a triumphant closer, as would the finale to Lemminkainen Suite - Another closer idea is Aino (Kajanus) - Other great stuff includes Kullervo (Madetoja), Concerto for Birds and Orchestra (Rautavaara), and the finale to the Kalevala Suite (Klami), not to mention any of several movements of Sibelius's symphonies They hinted at doing a "viking" show in 2017, then ended up with a horny Wes Cartwright/Red Shoe Diaries production (the music was a better fit for the former than the latter imo). Aside from the Crossmen valkyrie show, this is a theme that could be pursued further. 1 Quote

I think they kept building the emotional impact and power right through finals. The audience roared for them. It was a great show, and was surging right to the end like everyone else. They simply never quite achieved the laser-like clarity of the corps above them. I have faith that there will be plenty of talented kids who buy into their style and will help propel them even higher. 5 Quote
