Thanks for posting.  Is there a way to learn how the allocations have changed over the years?  What were these same corps receiving 5, 10, 15 or more years ago?  Have the allocation amounts or percentages changed over the same time periods?  Would the number of shows corps competed in, impact the revenue sharing? There has been. Substantial reduction in shows over the past few recent years. Would percentage shared change,  or total revenue change? I guess what I’m asking is , if total revenue was reduced by fewer shows (DCI events) would a corps choosing to appear in fewer shows, would there be less revenue for a corps? Or is it based on per event appearance? For example;

DCI runs 100 shows.  Is the revenue for the 100 shows what all the corps shares are based on?  OR

If a corps appears in 20 shows, is that what their share is based on?  AND

If a corps appears in 14 shows, is that what THEIR share is based on?

Corps are being paid per appearance depending on your ranking the previous year or the class you are in.

The more shows you do, the more money you get for that season.

However, the revenues sharing we are talking about have nothing to do with how many shows you do in a year. It is a year end distribution of the profit made by dci based on your ranking the last 55 years.

The older your corps is and the better your ranking was in 1970, 1980, 1990, etc = the bigger your share will be.

I may not know all the small details but it is my understanding of the system so far.

Allow me.  Following is how DCI revenue sharing will be divided this year:

Boston Crusaders 6.750%
Bluecoats 8.107%
Santa Clara Vanguard 8.795%
Blue Devils 9.605%
Carolina Crown 7.416%
Phantom Regiment 8.721%
Mandarins 3.250%
Blue Stars 4.512%
Cavaliers 8.568%
Troopers 3.490%
Colts 4.501%
Blue Knights 5.742%
Spirit of Atlanta 3.827%
Madison Scouts 6.540%
Pacific Crest 1.632%
Music City 1.032%
Academy 1.823%
Crossmen 5.020%
Genesis 0.146%
Cascades 0.432%
Jersey Surf 0.087%

The revenue sharing formula is spelled out in the DCI Policies and Procedures Manual posted on their website, section 211.4, "World Class Allocation".  Past contest results used in the formula can be found at various sites such as From the Pressbox or DCX, so this is all publicly verifiable.

My takeaway - you can be a world-class corps for 15 years, and still have to compete with corps getting 100 times what you get in revenue allocation.

Fascinating. The question it begs for me is what percentage of each corps total budget does the DCI revenues constitute? How much of their money comes from DCI and how much comes from other sources?

In just a few minutes browsing the DCI Policies & Procedures paragraphs adjacent to the one I cited, you will find the answers to most of your questions.

Important to recognize that there were many times more corps and shows 40 years ago as there are now. Therefore there will be less upward and downward movement because frankly there is less space to move.

Less space to move but also corps are more stable from year to year.
