1983 DCI Finals at the Orange Bowl in Miami Florida. Loved Garfield's Rocky Point Holiday, Madison Scouts playing Strawberry Soup, Suncoast Sound playing Aquarius, first year of Phantom Regiment with 1812 Overture, Blue Devils playing One More Time Chick Corea, Freelancers with Breaking Up Is Hard To Do. It was an amazing first show to watch.

July 14th, 1995: Moonlight Classic at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA

Loved the look and sound of that stadium but it was already decrepit when I marched there 15 years before that.

9/15/1963 in Livingston NJ at the Hilltoppers show. I was in the Hilltoppers feeder corps as a 10-year-old. I sat in a folding chair on the HS field sideline and was a runner for a judge. After each corps I would run up to my assigned judge, grab the completed sheet, and we'd take turns running them into the school where the tabulators were.

That sounds awesome as a first memory! 🙂

2007 finals at the rose bowl. I remember really hating the cadets show as a kid. Now I love it.

I think many of us share your trajectory 🙂

1987 Cary, North Carolina show.

I was there and wow, that was so memorable seeing Cadets with the dissolving company front!  And they didn't even win that night as I recall, didn't Spirit take first place?

My first show was there in 1984 and of course it was Garfield again that really made a standout impression, even though they only performed in exhibition due to arriving late after some sort of equipment breakdown.  SCV won the show (they were amazing as well) along with great performances from 27 and X-men.

However, first off the line was VK and those opening brass hits of "Chimes Festival" changed my life forever.  I was supposed to be working concessions in the stands for the HS band but I basically ditched my wares and sat glued to my see from there on out.

Always such a treat to think back on those times...
