Old Corps Guy Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 I was lucky enough to see him perform with the US Air Force Airmen of Note recently. A true loss to the jazz community. RIP Quote
KVG_DC Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 Ah no. Time for BD to do that all Gordon Goodwin show as a tribute now. 3 Quote
perc2100 Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 As a SoCA resident of the last almost-30 years, I've seen Gordon and his Big Phat Band a lot. Not only that, he was pretty plugged into SoCA jazz music education in HS's and colleges and whatnot. He was a great, kind, funny guy who was incredibly encouraging of students and had a passion not just for making and playing music, but seeing young adults blossom into musicians and work to become better players. I knew he's been sick for awhile now, but I guess I had always hoped somehow he'd pull through and be back on stage sooner than later. I hate this, and the vacuum it leaves in SoCA jazz scene 1 1 Quote
