I still disagree with this (not specifically you, just people that say this). I considered their dot thingys, etc to be props. Did they use them in a fresh, newish way? Yes, very much so. But they are still props to me.

The dot “thingy’s” imo, are not props at all.  Any more than a flag or rifle is.  It is simply a piece of equipment.  They can be hauled around in a plastic bin, not an additional semi.  They require no assembly or several people contracted to move them around the field.   The same applied to Bostons hoops from Glitch.  Equipment.  Props are what Crown had, Mandarins had, BD had. Stage set pieces. Moveable, static. Large, integrated well in most cases.  Bloo’s platforms from 24 were props.  But well used as a framework or staging.  Bostons props this year really took props to a new level.  Non obtrusive, multiple uses when broken down and disassembled.  Clever. No semi needed. No construction crew or MIT engineering required.  Whst SCV and BAC used for “props” and equipment is where I’d like to see incorporated more.

It does not matter how it travels. It is still a prop.

Not really.  Are flags props…no.  Are rifles props…no. It’s not just how they travel, it’s also how they are used. Props most often are large pieces that require a lot of effort to integrate. Examples noted previously.  Because of their size, generally, accommodations are utilized to transport and to bring to the field, and to change position on the field to incorporate into the visual set.

Props are not defined by their size.

I have no idea if/how DCI defines a prop. Cavaliers 1971 circus show. A dressed up clown juggled bowling pins at one point. Are the bowling pins a prop or equipment?

Is a car steering wheel a prop? How about a book? What about the shoes from the BD feature? Ya'll are reaching so hard you could have been the guy with the long arms.

I'm looking forward to the possibility shows incorporate more MELODY into their writing.  You know, the kind of stuff that provides an endearing kind of takeaway. There are tons of options available out there that are even royalty free, too!

Don't want to send an audience away confused!
