wolfgang Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 File this for future reference. The Chiefs announced today they are building a new domed stadium in Kansas, to be ready for the 2031 season. Also, BOA announced their 2026 schedule last week. The Regional that caught everyone's interest was Nashville at Nissan Stadium. It will be torn down after this year but the new domed Titans stadium opens on the same site in 2027. People wonder if this could become a new Super Regional in the new stadium. If, and this is still an if, BOA could have a show there, surely DCI could. 1 Quote

I think it's possible since the Nissan Stadium is a municipal stadium like Lucas Oil which should make it more affordable. (Unlike the ATL venue.) But I think the new "Kansas Chiefs" (that's weird rolling off the tongue) stadium will be a P3 'public-private partnership' funded by private ownership with tax incentives. The folks in Kansas City & the rest of the state of Missouri are crushed this morning. Quote
KVG_DC Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 Are they actually changing the name? I mean Kansas City, Kansas is a place. Quote

I've read two articles that one referred to them as the 'Kansas Chiefs' & one stated that they would remain the 'Kansas City Chiefs". So who knows. A former senator from MO was on a talk show this morning & was truly devastated. I guess that could remain the Kansas City Chiefs. I think when they move they adopt the Kansas City Chefs like the commercial. 😁 Quote

The Bears are trying to do their version of the Washington Redskins/Commanders version of "friend vs. foe" for location of the next stadium. The city (Washington DC) finally conceded after the Redskins/Commanders started naming multiple Northern VA locations as straw men. Now the Bears are putting Arlington Heights and Indiana up as straw men to get the city of Chicago to let them build near the current Soldiers Field. Give it another year or two and the city will concede to the request. Either way, there will still be no "Regional" for DCI in the Chicago metropolitan area. I know this to be true for the many years USBands has run at Giants Stadium and MetLife. I believe while YEA ran drum corps shows in Giants stadium, they were able to leverage the USBands deal to get the venue. Even at Hershey high school band circuits got a better rate than did Drum corps. so to me the scholastic component is key to affordability. 1 Quote

I remember when Nats Park first opened and they touted all that would be...now in planning to hit there for a game this summer, i found a decent hotel right around the corner and for grins, priced the condos overlooking the ballpark. it took 15 years, but it really came true. it's also near the river, which has seen tremendous growth in several spots, like the Wharf.
