First, the halftime show is not a drum corps show. Second, the halftime show has ALWAYS been designed for television, and not for the people that are in the stadium.  Why are you picking at this halftime show???

Third, I didn't necessarily mean to imply DCI is best viewed TV vs live, I meant merely "closest to our world" in a staging, props, performers-as-specific-characters, etc.  Compared to Prince rocking on a stage (which, FWIW, I _LOVED_ and still think that's the gold standard from a 'rockers on a stage' halftime show), I was impressed to see a show like we saw for the SB rather than just people on a stage, or utilizing space between 35's or something.  Like, I dig Green Day, and what they did was fine but it was "rock band plays on a stage for 15 minutes, doing the same thing they do every night of a tour."  Bad Bunny utilized an entire field, endzone to endzone, staged every beat of his music to some specific visual content, etc.  That, I think, was unique to such a huge mainstream event which I think was both really cool and an incredible step if this spawns similar SB Halftime presentations in the future.

I am new to posting here and after all the negative responses to my comments, this will be my last time. The title of this thread is “closest to our world”. I was simply expressing my thoughts that it is not close to our world because it was not designed with the stadium audience in mind. I wouldn’t want drum corps to become an activity where you need to see a broadcast on TV to enjoy it. Disagree all you want. Imply political undertones if you want. I have no interest in those discussions.

Your major problem was comparing a Super Bowl halftime show to a DCI show. They are not even close to the same thing, which makes any real, legitimate comparison impossible. DCI plays to the stadium, Super Bowl halftime shows play to the camera. It has been that way for decades.

Nobody has to imply any political tones here. All they have to do is read between the lines of your comments, and the tones are as clear as a bell.
